The Incredible Adventures of Mr. Poe Tader!
| It all began with a table full
of potatoes.  Normally potatoes lead a rather dull life. From the moment they are pulled from the ground to the moment they are eaten, potatoes very rarely get the chance to have Incredible Adventures. But in the batch of potatoes, there was one very special Potato by the name of Mr. Poe Tader. He was feeling restless in his position as normal potato, so he went to the elder of the Potato Village on the table and asked for his help.  "Wise Elder!" said Poe Tader. "I do not feel like this is where I belong! I know that I should be looking forward to serving mankind as a french fry or a chip, but I want more from life than that!" The village elder had known this was coming ever since Poe Tader was just a little tot. So together they created a plan so that Poe could escape and try to make it on his own in the Real World. One day during the Afternoon Nap Time, the elder snuck Poe out of the building, and helped him onto a Bicycle, which Poe could use to escape far away from the potato factory.  Poe Tader took his bike and rode this way and that, but unfortunately for him, he was a potato, and potatoes are not known for their skill at riding a bicycle, and so he did not make it far before he crashed his bike - and he had no way of getting back on without his elder friend. He thought that his dream of freedom was gone, and so he sat on a bench, and he hummed and he sighed.  In fact, he got so upset at the plight of potatoes in this country, that very nearly turned to a Life of Crime! He even went so far as to get a can of spray paint so that he could paint his name on brick walls.  But then one day a young lady spotted him trying to lug his spray paint around town and felt sorry for this little spud, so she picked him up and helped him to turn his life around.  It was with her guidance that Poe Tader discovered his hidden talent: Juggling! As it turns out, Poe Tader could juggle better than any potato in history! The only thing to do next was to find some way of letting the world see his talent... and it just so happened that there was a World Juggling Competition going on in town!  So Poe Tader went to the World Juggling Competition - but instead of getting to show them all his skill, the jugglers juggled him instead!  This went on for hours, until somebody tried to use him for contact juggling and while she was balancing him on her hand, he spoke up and said that he was there as a competitor, not a prop.  The juggler apologized for trying to juggle him, and to make up for it, she brought him to the main performance stage, and there Poe Tader wowed everyone with his juggling skills.  And he also discovered he had another talent - card tricks!  When everyone saw the Poe Tader's amazing juggling skills and magic trick skills, he became an instant sensation. Everyone loved Poe Tader!  Walking down the street, he would be stopped by screaming fans, who would call their relatives just to say that they were meeting Poe Tader in person!  And sometimes they'd even give him smooches.  Poe Tader was a celebrity, and his name was plastered everywhere. He was by far the most famous potato the world had ever known - and life was good for Mr. Poe Tader.  But there was something trouble Mr. Poe Tader. Despite all of the fame and the riches, he was not satisfied. And then one day as he went backstage of one of his shows, he noticed a terrifying sight there on the craft services table:  Mr. Poe Tader knew that he could not continue this life style any more, and so he stopped juggling and doing magic forever. He decided that he had to go where potatoes belonged - out in nature. So he went out and found himself a nice place in the woods.  He liked all of his new-found freedom, away from the bustle of the Big City. All day long he ran around and sat in the grass.  And every day he would make time to stop and smell the flowers.  But as he soon discovered, the woods are no place for a tender young potato. Although out in the woods he was free from the paparazi trying to snap pictures, he had a whole new threat: bears!  And when it wasn't the bears, it was the hunters:  With all of these things out to eat him, Mr. Poe Tader thought that he was a goner for sure! But then one day as he was hiding amongst some rocks, he bumped into a small green fellow wearing a nice suit and holding a rock. "Hello, there!" said Mr. Poe Tader. "Who are you?"  The green fellow looked at him and said "I am Beady, the mayor of this town! And who are you, little potato?" Poe Tader then told the mayor of his adventures at the potato factory, and how he escaped on a bike, became a famous juggler, and was now trying to avoid being eaten by a bear. The Mayor nodded and said that he understood, and that Mr. Tader could stay with them in their village as long as he liked.  "Oh thank you!" said Poe Tader, and then he went to explore his new home.  Poe Tader met all kinds of friendly people, and he got along with everyone.  He even met a young lady that was just his size!  Since they were of similar stature, they decided to get married. At first they did not know what to do since they were so much smaller than everyone else, but then they discovered that they could use their creative talents to help design new rock formations, and then the workers would carry out their ideas, and with this teamwork, they soon had the greatest village in the whole forest.  They had such a fantastic village that everybody could then take time to sit in the grass, and smell the flowers, and lie about without shoes on with no fear of bears or hunters.  And everyone in the village was so happy that they even gave Mr. Poe Tader his very own green hat.  And he lived Happily Ever After. The End. |
